JP Wine Bar in downtown KC commissioned MJ to create a unique piece that would fit in an existing masonry doorway that they discovered while renovating the new half of their establishment.  Rigby took the piece very seriously and designed it in a way that it engaged the space both spatially and dimensionally.  The piece was designed with opaque and translucent in mind.  He also incorporated lighting by locating fixtures behind the piece in the existing depth of the wall.  Thus creating one experience with the piece by day when the lights are off and a totally different feeling at night with the lights on.  Building the frame was a challenge, each piece was cut and coded to fit together like a puzzle.  The whole piece was hand crafted from walnut and glass and had literally fractions of an inch in give to fit in the space.  As with all of MJ's works of art, this one truly needs to be seen in person to be appreciated.  So, drop by JP's, order a drink and sit back and enjoy.
